Born in Bafut, Cameroon, Fuhnwi Jude is author of several poems that advocate humanity, peace, dignity and a thriving positive mindset. He writes about some of society’s most pressing issues.
Jude is a Spokesperson at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), based in East Africa. Before the ICRC, he was briefly the Senior Communications Manager at Lifebox Foundation. Previously, he served as Senior Global Communications Officer at Interpeace and as the Head of Communications Unit for Africa at BirdLife International. He was also Regional Correspondent for West and Central Africa at SOS Children’s Villages International. He also led the execution of the communications strategy of the European Union’s Covenant of Mayors in Sub-Saharan Africa initiative at the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa).
As a journalist, Jude served as reporter and sub-editor at The Post Newspaper, Cameroon. Prior to that, he was a programme presenter and human-interest news reporter at Abakwa FM Radio. He also had stints on State tv, the Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV), as a sport reporter and equally contributed to other broadcast and online news channels internationally in a freelance capacity. He received a nomination for the Foreign Press Association (FPA) award in London in 2015, for the Thomson Foundation Young Journalist from the Developing World category. He was selected from 117 journalists from 30 countries worldwide for the high quality and impact of his stories.
Jude holds a master’s degree in Conflict, Peace and Security from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre in Accra, Ghana, and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Yaounde II’s Advanced School of Mass Communications (ASMAC) in Cameroon. He also has a certificate of completion of the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s Financial and Economic Reporting fellowship in Africa; Kampala, Uganda.
Jude is a member of the International Press Association of East Africa (IPAE). He is also a member of the Commission on Education and Communication (CEC) of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
